The hospital was identified as providing outstanding performance in the delivery of positive experiences for patients during their hospital stay, according to Healthgrades, a leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.
White Plains Hospital celebrated the recognition at a special awards presentation from Healthgrades representatives on Wednesday, Aug. 6, which was open to all staff and volunteers. Healthgrades evaluated 3,582 hospitals that submitted patient surveys to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for eligibility for the 2014 Outstanding Patient Experience Award, covering inpatient services provided from March 2012 to April 2013. White Plains Hospital is in the top 5 percent of hospitals in the nation to meet these criteria. Healthgrades evaluated White Plains Hospital’s performance as assessed by the Hospital’s patients across 27 different questions that roll up to ten distinct measures. Ranging from cleanliness and noise levels in a patient room to factors such as pain management and responsiveness to patient’s needs, the measures also include whether a patient would recommend this hospital to friends or family. “This award is a wonderful validation of what we do every day to provide truly exceptional care for our patients,” said Susan Fox, president of White Plains Hospital. “We are very proud of our hospital culture, which prioritizes the highest quality of patient care and safety above all else. We work to continually raise the bar and enhance the experience for the benefit of our patients and their family members, every day.” White Plains Hospital employees incorporate patient satisfaction into nearly every layer of the organization, from senior leadership to nursing, to food and environmental services, to physician communication.
