SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Cecyl "Cindy" Smith Bassett, of Scarsdale, died Saturday, May 28. She was 93.
She was born in 1922, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Elizabeth Hudson Smith and Sydney Salisbury Smith. She attended New York University and graduated from Katharine Gibbs. She served on the board of directors and was a Sunday school teacher at the First Church of Christ Scientist in Scarsdale for many years. She was a 50-year member of Manursing Island Club and a member of the Scarsdale Golf Club, where she enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends.
She was the wife of the late William Hastings Bassett III, whom she married in 1944.
She is survived by her two sons, Douglas S. Bassett, and his wife, Nancy, of Rye Brook, and William H. Bassett IV, and his wife, Carole, of France; two granddaughters, Kristin and Kimberly; and one great-grandson, James.
She was predeceased by her sister, Barbaralee "Bolly" Newquist.
Services were privately held at George T. Davis Funeral Home, 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle.
