Clyde Wickliffe Moonie, 96, Former Scarsdale Resident

GREENWICH, Conn. - Clyde Wickliffe Moonie of Greenwich and formerly of Palm Beach, Fla., and Scarsdale, N.Y., Aug. 14. He was 96.

Moonie was born in San Francisco, in 1918, he graduated from the University of Chicago with an MBA in 1941. He joined the U.S. Army the following year and became a finance officer, serving in northern Africa before being attached to the U.S. Air Force in southern Italy. He retired after World War II with the rank of captain. He was a CPA licensed in California and in New York.

From 1945 to 1958 he was an audit manager at Arthur Andersen & Co. in Chicago, San Francisco and Mexico City. From 1958 to 1965 he was administrative manager and controller at mining companies in Peru and Chile before being transferred to the parent company, Minerals & Chemicals Philipp Corp., in New York City as controller. After several mergers, he retired from Phibro-Solomon Inc. in 1982 as executive vice president and chief financial officer. From 1983 to 1986 he was the executive director of the Advisory Council to the Financial Accounting Standards Board. After leaving FASB and until recently, he was a financial consultant to various companies and volunteered with the Greenwich Retired Men's Association and the Hill House Retired Residents in Old Greenwich.

Moonie is survived by his wife, Liana of Greenwich; son, Gregory; daughter, Barbara both of North Stamford; and many nieces and nephews.
