Lawrence L. Berglas, 90, Scarsdale Resident

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Lawrence L. Berglas, of Scarsdale, died on Thursday, Feb. 11. He was 90.

Born in Germany and educated in Germany, Holland, England and Ireland, Berglas served with the U.S. Army of Occupation in Italy and was honorably discharged in June, 1947. He graduated from Fordham University summa cum laude with a B.S. education degree, from NYU with a M.A. in administration and from Fordham Law.

Berglas was admitted to practice in 1958. He served the Eastchester Public Schools as a teacher and administrator from 1951 to 1986. At various times from the 1950s to '80s, he taught law-related courses at Fordham, NYU, Fairfield, CNR, Mercy and Elizabeth Seton. He also served on the board of directors at the Scarsdale Chateaux for 22 years.

He is survived by his companion of 29 years, Susan Sedlmayer, children and grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, 20 Cedar St., in Bronxville, with a remembrance service at 1:15 p.m.
