Louis Henry, 76, Longtime Scarsdale Resident

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Louis Francis Henry, a 40-year resident of Scarsdale, died Sept. 6, his 76th birthday. 

He was born Sept. 6, 1936, in Bronx, N.Y., to Daniel and Bridget Josephine Peyton Henry. He graduated from St. Benedict's Grammar School, St. Helena's High School and Fordham University.

Henry served in the Army and led a distinguished career as a lieutenant in the NYPD. He was a longtime parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale.

Henry was a regular spectator at his grandchildren's sporting events and concerts. He particularly enjoyed attending and singing at traditional Irish music sessions, where his grandsons played fiddle. 

He was married to Barbara McDermott Henry for 50 years. He is also survived by seven children, Ann Henry, Maura Henry (Robert) Barbour, Cynthia (John) Kantor, Sheila (Richard) Cecil, Louis (Emily) Henry, Bridget (Andrew) Scott and Catherine Henry; three siblings, Mary Henry Gennaro, of Rockville Centre, N.Y., Daniel (Hazel) Henry, of St. Helena Island, S.C., and Catherine Henry (William) Walsh, of Northridge, Calif.; 23 grandchildren and 25 nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale. Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Home in Scarsdale handled arrangements.
