SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Muriel DuVernoy of Scarsdale died July 7 at Hebrew Hospital Home in Valhalla. She was 88.
DuVernoy was born Nov. 11, 1923, in Bronx, N.Y. to Hugh and Elsie Hoffman McMahon. She graduated from Walton High School in 1941 and worked as an operator at New York Telephone Co. for several years.
She then married Charles DuVernoy on May 20, 1944 at Our Saviors Church in the Bronx. He died in 2007. DuVernoy was a resident of Scarsdale for 42 years. In her spare time, she gave English lessons and babysat.
She is survived by a daughter, Claudia (John) Russo, two sons, Michael (Nancy) and Charles C. (Mary) DuVernoy, two sisters, Margaret Dusch of New Jersey, and Edna Kennedy,of South Carolina, and five grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Tuesday at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Home in Scarsdale.
