Popular Hudson Valley Dentist Dies In English Channel

A popular Hudson Valley dentist died after scuba diving at a World War II plane wreck site in the English Channel searching for American servicemen missing sine the war, authorities confirmed Wednesday.

An investigation into the death of Dr. Bruce Hottum is under way, authorities said.

Hottum ran the Pine Street Dental Practice in Kingston in Ulster County, which included seven other dentists.

While his private general dentistry practice was his full-time occupation, Hottum taught ice rescue and small boat rescue programs as well as pre-hospital and wilderness emergency care for Fire, EMS, Ski Patrol and Military personnel. 

Hottum attended SUNY New Paltz and NYU College of Dentistry and performed his residency at Bellevue.
