Northern Westchester native Donna L. Furu of Brewster, a financial services professional, died unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, Jan. 20. She was 52.
She was born in Mount Kisco on April 19, 1965, the daughter of Philip and Florence (Light) Furu. Donna graduated from Somers High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. She was Vice President of Learning and Development at BNY Mellon, where she worked from 1998 to 2016.
Donna was an avid Mets fan and enjoyed attending the games with her nephew. She loved arts and crafts, a good book, and baking with her nieces. She loved to travel, especially to Disneyland and Maine, with family and friends. Donna was a special daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Donna is survived by her parents Philip and Florence, her brother Philip, Jr. and his wife Donna, her brother Carl and his wife Jennifer, and her nephew and nieces; Benjamin, Hannah, Kaitlin, and Emily.
A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 27 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac. A funeral service will be held during the visitation at 4:30 p.m., a private cremation will follow.
