REDDING, Ct. The thieves who took a $4,700 traffic sign from Cross Highway will not face criminal charges if they return it by Thursday, Redding Police Chief Douglas Fuchs says.
If the sign shows up in 48 hours, no questions asked, he says.
Its more than a prank, Fuchs said of Sunday's theft, which he said will be treated as felony larceny if charges are pressed.
If the sign isn't returned by Thursday afternoon, the police will be able to track the GPS-enabled sign, Fuchs said.

? A two-car accident on Limekiln Road resulted in injuries to both drivers. A car driven by Robert Pinckney, 61, from Redding, hit Juliette Vig's car head-on. Pinckney had minor injuries that were treated at the scene and Vig, 19, of Redding, was taken to Danbury Hospital. Both vehicles were towed and Pinckney was ticketed.
? CT United Ride, a 9/11 tribute, will head through Redding on Sept. 9. Thousands of motorcycles will pass through Redding on Routes 107 and 58, causing traffic delays of a half hour. The police will be on the scene monitoring the event.
