Distracted Driver Causes Motorist To Crash Into Traffic Light In Bronxville

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - A Bronxville traffic light was destroyed after a distracted driver struck it while traveling through the village.

Shortly after 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, police were dispatched to the intersection of Midland and Kraft Avenue where there were reports of an auto accident.

According to police, the subsequent investigation determined that a 40-year-old woman from Danbury, Conn. was traveling east on Kraft Avenue and attempting to make a left hand turn onto Midland Avenue driving through a steady red light and forcing another motorist to strike the pole carrying the traffic light.

Police said that the woman was using a mobile GPS device when she drove through the red light. The woman - whose name was not released - was cited for passing a red light and using a mobile GPS device while driving, she was issued tickets and is due back in Bronxville Justice Court later this year.
