A woman reported to officers at Scarsdale Police Headquarters that while she was taking a "leisurely" walk on School Lane at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Monday, July 24, when she crossed paths with a 19-year-old walking two dogs.
When the two got close, near the intersection of Brown Road, police said that the woman stated that one of the dogs - described as large, and white in color - lunged and bit her on the wrist and forearm.
After making the formal complaint at Scarsdale Police Headquarters, the woman was treated by paramedics and had her wound bandaged. She subsequently refused further treatment or a precautionary trip to the hospital. The woman told police that she would take a trip to an Urgent Care facility for follow-up medical care.
Police proceeded to contact the dog’s owners, who responded to Police Headquarters with the beagle, Charlie, that was involved int eh incident. The owners provided police with his Scarsdale dog license and copies of his most recent veterinary vaccination from the Scarsdale Animal Hospital.
Police noted that the dog “did not appear dangerous and behaved orderly in front of patrol.” All parties were advised to quarantine Charlie for the next 10 days.
