Driver From Hit-And-Run Pedestrian Accident In Norwalk Contacts Police

NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police have spoken with the driver of a car that hit a pedestrian on West Avenue early Wednesday morning, an accident that led the closure of the I-95 southbound ramp.

The driver came in and spoke to investigators Wednesday, Norwalk police said. As of Wednesday afternoon, the driver has not been charged, but the vehicle has been taken into custody, police said.

The pedestrian hit was identified as Robert Hartman, a 55-year-old Norwalk resident. Police said he remains in serious condition at Norwalk Hospital.

The accident was reported at 5:22 a.m. Wednesday, police said. When officers arrived, they found Hartman in the roadway, suffering from serious injuries, police said. 

The vehicle had fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.  The ramp was shut down early Wednesday while police processed the scene.
