Police responded to a Clarence Road home Sunday afternoon, when the couple returned home from a weekend trip to a bed and breakfast in New Paltz to find that burglars had entered the residence and ransacked several rooms while they were away.

The investigation determined that “the unknown individual(s) entered through a first floor unlocked window and touched several bottles of wine in the room where entry was made.” They then travelled upstairs and entered both bedrooms, pulling out every drawer, dumping the contents on the floor and searching through the loot.

According to police, during a search of the interior of the home, responding officers observed that draws and closets were open in two second floor bedrooms. Multiple jewelry and watch boxes were found empty in the search.

The burglar entered the residence without using force, and the victims do not have an alarm system. The police report states that several newspapers had been left untouched in front of the house and no one else was aware of the weekend trip.

In total, the victim estimated that the stolen property was worth approximately $150,000. A complete list of stolen goods has not yet been provided to police. A patrol of neighboring houses and streets
