SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Thieves took golf equipment worth more than $2,800 from the trunk of a Mercedes Benz 350 parked in a Scarsdale driveway, police report.

A 58-year-old Haverford Road resident told police he parked the car in his driveway at 10:30 p.m. Saturday and the next morning his golf bag, a portable compressor and more than $2,800 worth of golf clubs were missing from the trunk. An iPod was taken from the glove box, he said.

There was no sign of damage to the car, and the owner told police that while the vehicle had an alarm, he didn’t remember locking the doors or activating the alarm. There are presently no suspects, and there were no witnesses. Because of the value of the goods, the crime is classified as grand larceny, a class D felony.

Also from the Scarsdale Police blotter from Aug. 6 through Aug. 15:

Several window panes were broken at a home under construction on Morris Lane on Wednesday, police said. A worker told police panes on two nine-foot windows in the front of the house had been broken.

Also, a portable toilet had been pushed on its side. No other damage was reported, and no items were missing from the interior of the home.
