Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, police were dispatched to Church Lane when a burglary alarm was activated. Upon arrival, they performed an exterior check of the residence and found that the front door was ajar.

According to police, the front door had been broken by being forced in, and there were fresh wet shoe prints on the front step. The investigation determined that the suspect broke in through the front door and went to the master bedroom. In the bedroom, a night stand drawer was removed and its contents were dumped on the bed.

The front door was so damaged that police had to secure the storm door. No other rooms in the home appear to have been entered. A Westchester County Police K9 unit was called in to assist with the investigation, which is ongoing. The homeowners were not home at the time of the investigation, and it remains unclear what, if anything was stolen.
