A Putnam County man with a warrant out for his arrest in Peekskill was busted by police in Scarsdale after a snafu led to officers intervening in the village.

Officers were dispatched to a Copper Beach Lane home shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 where there were reports of an unauthorized U-Haul truck parked on private property. The caller spoke with the homeowner, who said that a man from Garrison and a woman had shown up at her property before beginning to look around.

Upon arrival, police were able to determine that the two suspects - whose names were redacted in the report documenting the incident - had responded to the wrong home to perform a lock changing service for a real estate agent.

After confirming that the two were supposed to be performing work across the street, the responding officers checked the IDs of the man and woman, which revealed that there was an outstanding warrant issued for the former in Peekskill for a charge of second-degree criminal impersonation.

After verifying the warrant, the man was arrested for the outstanding warrant and handed over to police in Peekskill. He was later released on his own recognizance and is due back in court later this year to answer the charge.
