Corona resident George Gordillo, 32, was arrested shortly after midnight on Sunday morning, when police and his compatriots were unable to calm him down following a drunken tirade, police said.
According to police, the driver – whose name has been redacted – pulled over on Post Road after an altercation broke out in the vehicle. Upon arrival, Gordillo began shouting at a pair of responding officers, “stating that he should be arrested, even though officers informed him he had not committed a crime.”
Gordillo continually thrust his hands towards officers, motioning that he should be placed in handcuffs, at which point, Officer Michael Coyne, smelled alcohol radiating off of him as he wandered around the area and into the roadway. It was then that the suspect dialed his phone, “as if to record his interactions with patrol,” and began shouting that he was being arrested and has done nothing wrong and was being apprehended without reason.
“It appeared (he) dialed an unknown phone number and began yelling at an unknown individual on his phone that he was being arrested and to record all that was taking place,” Officer Jesse Gold said. “He was advised that he was not under arrest multiple times, then began to make numerous thrusts towards myself and other officers with his hands behind his back as if he was asking to be arrested.”
Despite responding officers informing him that he was not under arrest, and were only looking to gather details of the incident, Gordillo “was so belligerent that it made questioning the other occupants of the vehicle difficult, as they could not focus on Sgt. (Michael) Siciliano’s questions due to the constant shouting by the defendant.”
An additional unit needed to be called in due to Gordillo’s level of intoxication, who continued to shout that he “was a resident of the USA and that he wanted his ‘NYS lawyer.’” Because he continued shouting, and walking into the middle of Post Road, officers were forced to place him under arrest and members of the Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps. checked on his well being.
“He became increasingly non-compliant by behaving in a belligerent manner and using profanity towards officers,” Gold noted. “He would not remain on the sidewalk as directed and was trying to wander on Post Road.”
Upon arrival at Scarsdale Police Headquarters, Gordillo “threw himself to the ground on two occasions, while screaming ‘excessive force’ repeatedly in the presence of high ranking officials. Gordillo refused to answer any questions from police, but noted that he wasn’t a suicide risk.
Gordillo was released to his cousin on $100 bail on the night in question.
