Nearly $10,000 In Goods Stolen From Scarsdale Vehicle

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A Scarsdale resident reported that on Jan.18 nearly $10,000 in goods, including $6,000 in lenses that are used to examine the retina, were stolen from his vehicle parked outside his home on Highland Way, according to a police report.

Among the items stolen were a $600 camera, a surgical loupe worth $750, an indirect ophthalmoscope with an estimated value of $1,500, a $500 hunting coat and the 20 lenses that are used for eye examinations. In all, the total of the items is estimated at $9,450.

Also on the Scarsdale police blotter from Jan. 14 through Jan. 21:

On Jan. 17, Scarsdale police received a call from Chase Bank that an attempt was made to cash a fraudulent check written for $20,600.07. It is currently unknown if the suspect gave his real name, or an alias while attempting to cash the check. The person who's account the check was written on, hasn’t written any large checks recently, but made several donations toward the end of 2012, police said.
On Monday, a Park Road resident reported that at approximately midnight, someone struck an outdoor light fixture at her home, causing $750 in damages. According to the police report, there was a loud party the night before, and several vehicles left the area in a hurry. The victim believes that the youths at the party are responsible for the damage.
