Dajuan Wiggins, 26, was charged with sixth-degree larceny and Martisa Chambers, 24, was charged with criminal mischief and third-degree assault. Each was released on a promise to appear in court.
Officers were called to a home on Ely Avenue at 1 p.m. Thursday on a report of a disturbance, police said. The caller, Wiggins, told police that Chambers had pepper-sprayed him in the face.
When officers arrived, Wiggins was flushing pepper spray out of his eyes, according to police reports.
But Wiggins said that he had heard his ex, Chambers, was pouring bleach on his belongings and headed over to the Ely Avenue house, police said. He told police that he and Chambers had agreed she would leave his belongings outside and he would leave a key to the home.
But when Wiggins arrived, he found her pouring bleach on his possessions and wanted her to pay for the damage, eventually taking her wallet, according to police. When she tried to get the wallet back, she sprayed him in the face with pepper spray, police said.
Officers entered the home and detected the odors of pepper spray and bleach, according to police reports.
They spoke to Chambers, who said that she and Wiggins had been arguing about child support, and that she had sprayed him after he wouldn't give her wallet back during the argument, police said. She denied pouring bleach on his possessions, police said.
Eventually Wiggins returned the wallet and retrieved his belongings, and both were given summonses to appear in court, police said.
