SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A Scarsdale home was damaged during an apparent break-in attempt Friday night, police said.
Officers responded to Dickel Road shortly before noon Saturday after a homeowner reported someone had tried to enter his home. A screen in the back of the house was cut where the burglar attempted to gain entry, police said.
An awning below the window was damaged, likely by someone standing on it to enter the house, police said.
The homeowner said the window was closed and the screen was intact as of 6 p.m. Friday. When he went to bed shortly before midnight, the house was in good order. His wife first noticed the damage the next morning, he said.
Police canvassed the neighborhood, though none of the neighbors heard or saw anything out of the ordinary. The burglar was unable to steal anything from the house.
Police said there had been a similar incident reported on Coolridge Avenue in White Plains the night before.
