According to police, on Oct. 25, shortly before midnight, a burglar broke into a Cushman Road home after damaging a set of French doors in the rear of the property. A similar incident took place a week earlier on Drake Road.
The homeowners left for New York City shortly before 7 p.m., discovering the broken door when they returned at 11:30 p.m. To gain access to the home, the suspect pried the bottom of the door, shattering window panels.
According to the police report, the suspect rummaged through the home, opening drawers before entering the master bedroom. Once in the bedroom, the burglar stole various pieces of jewelry of an unknown value. The house had an alarm, but the homeowners failed to activate it.
A canvas of the area and interviews with neighbors proved inconclusive. Scarsdale police officials are continuing the investigation into the burglaries.
