SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Another Scarsdale home was targeted by burglars over the weekend, as a suspect made off with “a large amount of jewelry” after breaking into a Myrtledale Road home.

Shortly before midnight on Saturday, police responded to a burglary alarm, where they found the rear sliding glass door of the Myrtledale Road home forcefully pried open. A swift search of the home found it to be unoccupied.

According to police, the only areas of the home that were disturbed by the burglars were the master bedroom and a purse that was in the kitchen. Police found that a dresser in the bedroom, which contained a “large amount of jewelry,” had been rifled through, as were the nightstand and closet.

Other rooms containing valuable electronics and other equipment were undisturbed. Police believe that the suspect exited the house through the same back door, which had a broken locking mechanism.

A bottle of Diet Coke and a McDonald’s cup that were found on the front lawn were taken as evidence. Police had to delay the investigation until the morning, as the homeowner – who was reached via telephone – was not present.

If caught, the suspect faces a felony charge of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief for the broken lock.
