According to the police report, the Greenacres Avenue resident was called on his cell phone about 10 a.m. from a person who identified himself only as a “civil investigator” who had been retained to “pierce the corporate veil” on the victim’s business in White Plains.
The person said he was calling “to give a ‘heads up’ that his team of investigators would be contacting the vendors, suppliers, banks and lenders to ferret out their finances and investigate the financial transactions” of the business, according to the police report.
Police said the caller had Social Security numbers, addresses and bank information for the victim and his wife.
