Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Warburton Avenue at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Sunday Sept. 24, where there were multiple reports of a shooting incident in the area.

Upon arrival, police said that they found 16-year-old Joseph Kuaffo with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead, prompting a criminal investigation.

Detectives from the Major Case and Crime Scene Units investigated the shooting incident, determining that Kuaffo was shot once in the chest by 17-year-old Bronx resident Horace Allen, who fled the scene. Police said that Kuaffo and Allen were allegedly “exhibiting a firearm when Allen recklessly caused Kuaffo’s death by firing the loaded handgun at his chest.

Allen was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies. The case is currently being prosecuted by the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.
