Two From Westchester Injured In Route 9 Crash

Three local residents injured in a head-on crash on Route 9 had to be airlifted to Westchester Medical Center, officials said.

The crash occurred around 5 p.m. Wednesday when a vehicle driving south veered into the oncoming lane and struck a northbound car, said state police.

The Garrison Volunteer Fire Company said in a Facebook post that two medical helicopters landed at their firehouse and that several good Samaritans stopped to help as well as Captain Mike Gallo of East Fishkill FD.

Other agencies assisting included State Police, Continental Village, North Highlands, Garrison, Peekskill, Cortlandt, Putnam County, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

The helicopters responded from LifeNet and Hackensack.
