According to police reports, Yonkers resident Artan Haluci, 28, was arrested early on New Year’s Day after a traffic stop by Scarsdale police officers and accused of driving under the influence.

Shortly after 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Haluci was pulled over after police found him driving his Mustang faster than 60 miles per hour southbound on Post Road, which has a posted 30 miles per hour speed limit.

According to Sgt. Michael Siciliano’s report, “As I engaged the operator in conversation, I detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverages on (Haluci’s) breath. His eyes were glassy and bloodshot and his clothes were in disorder.” Additionally, Haluci slurred his words while responding to officers’ inquiries.

When asked for his middle and last name, the driver responded “Artan Haluci,” his first and last name. When asked to recite the alphabet from “G to P,” the suspect began at the beginning, stating “A, B, C, D, E, F, L,” according to the report.

During standard field sobriety tests, Haluci was unable to touch the top of an upheld pen, instead making contact with the side. His eyes also “did not track smoothly to stimulus, evidencing a distinct and continual Nystagmus at maximum deviation.”

Haluci also failed a “walk and turn” test, when he failed to turn on command, and a “one leg stand” test, which he could not complete due to his inebriation.

Following an alcosensor prescreening test, which displayed a reading of .20 percent, Haluci was arrested and charged with misdemeanor counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated, for his blood alcohol content and driving while intoxicated. He was also issued a ticket for speeding.

Haluci was released on $250 bail. He is due back in Scarsdale Village Court on Wednesday.
