District 2 comprises Bedford, Lewisboro, Mt. Kisco, Pound Ridge, North Salem and a portion of Somers. She has been warmly endorsed by the County Republican Committee and County Executive Rob Astorino.

South Salem’s Rendo is a partner with the law firm of Wallach & Rendo LLP, specializing in criminal and civil litigation. She majored in political science and philosophy at SUNY Binghamton, then attended Albany Law School. She was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1993. During her career she has provided pro bono work for indigent prison inmates, including assistance in employment and rehabilitation. In 1992 she received the National Order of Barristers Award.

Locally, Rendo is a member of the Mt. Kisco Chamber of Commerce and several Bar Associations and has also been a co-leader of Brownie Troop #1602.

Rendo says that one of her concerns is Westchester’s enormous tax burden. She would like to make the county a more affordable place to live and work.

Democrat Peter Harckham, formerly of Katonah and now a North Salem resident, has served on the County Legislature since 2008. In 2010 he was chosen by his colleagues to serve as Majority Leader. His work on the Legislature includes committees on environment, energy, septics, public safety and security, and the Westchester County watershed.

Before taking on the job of County Legislator, Harckham was president of A-Home, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to building affordable housing in Northern Westchester. His daughters attended Katonah-Lewisboro schools.

Republican Rendo has scheduled a press conference for Friday, May 17, to be held outside her offices in Mt. Kisco. The address is 239 Lexington Avenue. The conference starts at 11 a.m.
