Dan Scavino, Trump's Director of Social Media who grew up in Yorktown and lives in Hopewell Junction, was found to have violated the Hatch Act by the Office of Special Counsel when he went after a Michigan congressman on Twitter who initially opposed a bill that would repeal Obamacare.

The Hatch Act bans public officials from using their positions for political activity. Scavino had urged Trump supporters to primary and defeat Rep. Justin Amash.

"Donald Trump is bringing auto plants & jobs back to Michigan," Scavino tweeted from his personal account- @danscavino. " Justin Amash is a big liabiltiy."

Scavino was issued a warning and told additional violations would lead to further action. Scavino's Twitter account for his work with the Trump administration is @scavino45.

According to the Washington Post, federal employees who willfully violate the Hatch Act can be removed from their positions or barred from federal employment for up to five years.

Scavino has changed his personal Twitter bio since receiving the letter. It now says- Personal Twitter Handle! I will be back

"What 'ethics lawyers?' " Scavino tweeted when the initial accusations surfaced in April. "The ones from the Obama Admin who want to take Trump down, or the Bush Admin who were #NeverTrump? No thanks!"

Scavino started working for Trump at age 16 as a caddie at Trump National in Briarcliff, later becoming executive vice president and general manager. He was Social Media Director for Trump's presidential campaign.

Trump, who owns an estate in Bedford, also owns Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor.

The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
