SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- The Scarsdale Democratic Club will host its annual fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 2-5 p.m. at Taiim Cellar, 11 Boniface Circle.
The fundraiser will feature appearances by U.S. Rep. Eliot Engel, State Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins and New York state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.
Engel is the ranking member on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He also serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee including the Subcommittee on Health, and the Subcommittee on Energy and Power. He is the founder and co-chair of the House Oil and National Security Caucus, which is seeking clean, energy efficient alternatives to America's over-reliance on oil.
Stewart-Cousins, who is completing her first term representing Scarsdale, was elected by her colleagues to serve as Leader of the Senate Democratic Conference in December 2012, becoming the first female leader of a legislative conference in New
York State history. She was first elected to the State Senate in 2006 and currently represents Greenburgh, part of White Plains, part of New Rochelle, part of Yonkers and Scarsdale.
DiNapoli has aggressively fought the misuse of public
resources and strengthened one of the nation’s top public pension funds and has consistently spoken out about fiscal gimmicks and government inefficiency.
Guests are encouraged to meet these candidates as well as Scarsdale’s Acting Village Justice Arlene Katz, who is running for Family Court judge, and other candidates for local political office.
Ticket prices range from $75 dollars to $1,000.
