Before the heart of the blizzard even reached the village, snow began falling at 6:30 a.m., dropping nearly 3 inches in the area by 3 p.m. This forced snow-clearing efforts to begin early, as highway department crews spread brine and salt and started clearing snow from walkways.

Plowing operations began at 4 p.m., as 15 plow trucks and eight salt trucks kept all main roads clear and passable, while secondary streets were plowed periodically. Scarsdale Department of Public Work employees continued plowing throughout the night.

Snowfall became less intense by midnight, with 6 inches measured on the ground at 11 p.m., with all roads clear Friday. By 5 a.m. Saturday, an additional 7 inches had fallen, bringing the total to 13 inches. No power outages or tree issues were reported, with just two locations warning of overhanging branches.

At that time, three pay loaders and one plow began stacking snow downtown. The location was mostly clear by 1 p.m. with no snow on the curb line and 85 percent of parking spaces available. Large mounds of snow strategically were stacked along Chase Road, East Parkway, Boniface Circle and Scarsdale Avenue.

All village roads were plowed by 3 p.m., with blacktop visible and all village workers were released from their shift by 6 p.m.

The strategically stockpiled snow began being hauled away at 5 a.m. Sunday and was completed by 5 p.m. that day. Any piles that remain were to be moved during the week.

There only were minor equipment breakdowns although one plow couldn't be fixed. School buses and the transportation facility were cleared Sunday in preparation of Monday and there was no snow emergency declared during the storm.
