Scarsdale Mayor Honored With Public Service Award

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Scarsdale Mayor Miriam Levitt Flisser received the Public Service Award on Tuesday at the Turkish Cultural Center’s second-annual Women’s Appreciation Day and Awards Ceremony.

Levitt-Flisser said at the event she was born in a displaced persons camp in Europe and that she immigrated to the U.S. She said at the event that she become a pediatrician and devotes her time and effort to public service as a result of those life events.

Former state senator Suzi Oppenhiemer received the Lifetime Service Award and Danielle Butin, founder of the Afya Foundation, received the Humanitarian Service Award. The Afya Foundation supplies critically needed surplus medical supplies, hospital equipment and humanitarian provisions.

Levitt-Flisser will not seek re-election for Mayor in the upcoming village election March 19. Current trustee Bob Steves is running unopposed for the position.
