“He has done a damn good job,” Rainford Kelly said as he left his polling place at Stamford High School, adding that Obama would do better if both parties came together in Congress and listened to the people more.

“Look at my shirt!” Evelyn Hunter said proudly displaying a black T-shirt with the president’s face on it as she left Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. She said she supports all Democrats running, including her State Representative Gerald Fox IIII, “Barack rocks! And Fox rocks too.”

Jennifer Lapine came out to support the president because, as an educator, she likes his beliefs about trying to get higher education for all people. “I believe he really cares about people,” she said.

"The Republicans have been a total obstruction to Obama since day one,” Matthew Retter said after casting his vote at Scofield Magnet Middle School. He then brought up U.S. President Harry S. Truman’s belief that the rich have enough representation, and that he voted for the middle class.

One supporter of Mitt Romney,Sandy Palma, came out to vote for the Republican because she expected the country to be at a different place at this point in her life, and she likes his stand on health care.

“The country would be in better hands with him at the helm,” Palma said of Romney as she left Stamford High School.

According to the registrar of voters, 20,170 people made their way to the polls by noon Tuesday, which accounts for 37.6 percent of the registered voters in Stamford.
