Vivian Pasternak, who has more than two decades of geriatric nursing experience, will be responsible for administering and directing the Ambassador’s policies and procedures for resident care.
General Manager David Pomerantz said Pasternak’s past experience in the field and her role in opening the New York State Veterans Home in Montrose made her a unique choice for the position.
“We are pleased to have Vivian join the Ambassador team,” he said. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. Her compassion for seniors and dedication to resident and family satisfaction mirrors our community’s commitment to providing a positive environment for successful aging.”
The Ambassador of Scarsdale will feature 115 residences of varying design. The rooms will range from studio to two-bedroom apartments. Ninety-five of the units are earmarked for assisted living, while 20 are reserved for those needing memory care. It is set to open its doors later this year.
Aside from the amenities the Ambassador of Scarsdale will offer – from signature restaurants to libraries and performing arts studios – the upscale assisted living facility, which is set to open its doors to elderly residents as soon as January, also will be devoted to helping seniors suffering from memory loss.
Those who call the Memory Care Wing their home will be served upscale cuisine in a communal dining room to stimulate and heighten the senses, which can help with memory loss. A wheelchair accessible “wandering garden” also will provides access to nature and the outdoors.
According to a statement from Ambassador of Scarsdale officials, the “Memory Care Wing will feature a homelike environment that maximizes normal living environments and routines that provide a level of autonomy, community and quality of life. The features help reduce the potential for agitation, which often comes with the aging process.”
