Rescue Pup Helps Passaic County Radio Personality Heal After Heartbreak

PASSAIC, N.J. — Most people in the tri-state area know Passaic County's Cindy Vero from her traffic updates on the radio.

But the Westwood native became a local hero this week, when she saved  a boxer-mix, who was recently abandoned in Passaic County.

"He's tiny but very mighty and incredibly sweet," said Vero of her new pup Thurman, who she met recently with her husband, Tony Grenzebach.

"The pack is in love."

A friend of Vero's who works at a local animal hospital knew she could use some puppy love, having lost her longtime rescue Ernie G last month.

And so, Vero and Grenzebach now have three cats, two with feline leukemia, and three dogs — all six are rescues.

"Please #rescue #adoptdontshop, there's a lot of pups out there that need you," Vero said.

Vero does traffic reports and other commercial work for NASH 94.7,  95.5 PLJ,  K104, Magic 98.3 and 100.7 WHUD.
