Westchester Man Convicted Of Multiple Robberies, Including One Involving 11-Year-Old

A Westchester man has been convicted of multiple street robberies, including one involving an 11-year-old boy, the District Attorney’s Office announced.

A Yonkers man was found guilty by a jury of committing multiple street robberies.

Yonkers resident William Hines, 64, was found guilty by a jury of robbing three victims and assaulting one of them, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr, announced.

Scarpino said that on three different days, Hines robbed three victims in Yonkers.

At approximately 5:40 p.m. on Jan. 6 this year, near the intersection of Palisade Avenue and Walsh Road, Hines allegedly stole cash from an 11-year-old boy.

Nearly a month later, on Feb. 4, at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Elm Street, Hines was found guilty of forcibly stealing money from another victim, this time, repeatedly punching his victim in the face, sending him to the hospital.

On Feb. 12, Hines again forcibly stole money from his third victim on Ashburton Avenue.

Hines was found guilty of second-degree robbery, third-degree robbery, assault, grand larceny, and criminal possession of stolen property. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
