Explosion Sets Off Large Fire At Numerous Long Island Businesses

Four firefighters were injured battling a large fire that destroyed a florist shop on Long Island and damaged another business.

The fire started around 12:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 13, at Duryea's Florist at 60 Guy Lombardo Ave., in Freeport.

Officials said the fire started with an explosion on the first floor in a floral shop and moved to a neighboring Deli Ta Queria.

Other nearby business also received damage and four firefighters suffered minor injuries, Freeport fire officials told News 12.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Freeport Fire Marshal's Office.
