The Westchester Financial Center in White Plains is getting a makeover.
Officials from Ginsburg Development Companies announced that they have purchased the iconic building, with intentions to renovate it, “bring it to the highest contemporary standards as a mixed-use development” and rebrand it as “City Square” at 50 Main Street.
Martin Ginsburg, the founder and principal of the development company announced the acquisition of the 571,000-square-foot office complex, which is located across from the White Plains Metro-North Station.
According to officials, the rebranding will include a mixed-use development that will include office space, retail shops, restaurants and local housing, in an effort to “look to create a synergy with the new City of White Plains Transit District Strategic Plan to transform Main Street into a new pedestrian-friendly district.”
“50 Main St., a 15-story, 309,000-square-foot Class A office building will be renovated with a new lobby and an entire floor of amenities, including a fitness center, yoga studio, game room, lounge, and business center,” officials highlighted. “The café will be renovated and expanded to have indoor and outdoor dining. The lobby will be extended, and new art and sculpture displays will be added to enliven the interiors.”
Officials touted the two-acre central court at the location, which will feature “a quarter-mile ‘walk-around,’ which will go past landscaped areas, a water feature, sculptures, and different types of gathering places, including an outdoor lounge and sun deck. The garage will also be upgraded with new lighting and signage.”
A nearby, 14-story, 262-000-square-foot office building is also scheduled to be converted into a mixed-use building comprised of “luxury residential apartments” and office space, both with a new lobby and elevator banks.
