Master Your Computer At The Scarsdale Adult School

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – The Scarsdale Adult School is offering new courses this fall for residents interested in improving their skills on the computer and Internet.

Victoria Free Presser, the public information officer for the Scarsdale School District, is teaching the class, “You’re on LinkedIn… Now What?” The two-week class will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on consecutive Thursdays beginning Oct. 4. During the class, Presser will introduce students to the basics of the free networking website. She will instruct about setting up an account, creating a profile, sharing links, organizing connections, joining groups and conducting research. The two-session course will cost $70.

“Workplace Computer Skills” is an eight-session class designed for students interested in improving their computer literacy through Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. The course will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, beginning Oct. 1. 

The Scarsdale Adult School is also offering a class on the array of online Google software. In “The Google Suite – Wow!” Cory Merchant will teach about the ins and outs of Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar and Picasa to help students master the online applications. The $105 course will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. on Mondays beginning Oct. 15. 

For those interested in photography, the Adult School has classes that will cover the basics of the hobby. Photoshop I and II will teach students how to improve pictures, format images, web design and business logos. “Digital Photography for Beginners” will cover the fundamentals of point-and-shoot digital cameras on Monday nights, while “Advanced Digital Photography” will help students that are already computer literate improve technique with a single lens reflex camera.
