Harriet Sobol’s newest book group is devoted to the Elena Ferrante trilogy. She will lead group discussion on the Neapolitan novels that follow the lives of two girlfriends as they mature from children into adults. “My Brilliant Friend” will be the topic for the first meeting on Thursday, March 26, from 1-2:30 p.m., at the instructor’s home in Scarsdale. Lynne Mayocole will lecture on Mary Cassatt and Berthe Morisot, two impressionist painters of distinct backgrounds who were accepted into the male-dominated Parisian art shows of the time, March 26, from 1-3 p.m. at the Scarsdale Public Library. Click here for more information.

Later in the semester, trailblazing anthropologist and former SAS instructor Margaret Mead will be honored in Lori Rotskoff’s book discussion of “Euphoria” by Lily King.

In May, Frida Kahlo’s life and art will be the subject of a one-hour evening class and two separate walking tours – one of the conservatory and one of the library – all in collaboration with the New York Botanical Garden.

March and early April also offer multiple classes taught by Scarsdale Adult School’s expanding female instructors: Art Appreciation, Guided Tours, and Museum Previews; Arts & Crafts; Cooking with America Gonzalez and Jen Rossano; Fitness and Dance; Literature, Film, and Philosophy; Meditation; Music Appreciation; Personal Organization; Reentering the Workforce; Singing and Song; and Writing.

Parents of children with ADHD have much to gain from Scarsdale mother of four, Lisa Bezos. With children in high school, middle school and elementary school, Bezos has learned to balance busy schedules and varied personalities and interests, all while navigating the special challenges inherent in raising a child with ADHD.

After a successful run last semester, Bezos returns April 27 to lead a four-week class for parents of children ages 5-12, entitled “Living with ADHD: A Parent's Perspective.”

Classes will take place from 9:15-10:45 a.m. at Westchester Reform Temple.
