Scarsdale Adult School Shares News, Upcoming Events

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- The Scarsdale Adult School has news and updates, as well as several upcoming events scheduled for the community.

SAS ushered in several new directors, while bidding farewell to others on the SAS Board of Trustees at the May 11 annual meeting. Carole Princer Levy was elected to the executive committee as the incoming treasurer. Stephen Chase has completed his term as an officer but will continue to serve as a trustee on the board. 

Remaining on the executive committee for another year are Nancy Alderman and Elizabeth Gruber, as co-chairs; Ann Sacher as vice chair; and Florie Wachtenheim as secretary. Joining the board for their first renewable three-year terms are Zoe Kolpen Cantor, Geralyn Della Cava, Michelle Lichtenberg and Lisa Messinger. 

Now an annual ritual, Estha Weiner is back with a new Shakespeare class for the spring. The theme this semester will be "Summer, Seasons, Sonnets, and Storms." The four-session course will meet from 1:30-3:30 p.m Tuesdays at the Scarsdale Public Library starting June 2. 

"America the Beautiful: Women and the Flag" has been moved to Thursday, June 11 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Scarsdale Public Library. 

Robert Cohen will be introducing The Ballad of America, rescheduled to Friday, June 12, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Scarsdale Public Library.

Edmund Niemann is returning for Franz Schubert: An Annotated Recital, which has been moved by one week from its original date to June 12. The performance is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hoff-Barthelson Music School. 

America Gonzalez’s Summer Asian Fusion cooking class has just been rescheduled for Thursday, June 18.
