Scarsdale Grad Volunteers At Nature Center

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Olivia McKay says she has mixed emotions about graduating high school.

McKay is graduating from Scarsdale High School this year and is heading to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for college,studying environmental, earth and soil Sciences.

"It is truly bittersweet," McKay said. "All the knowledge I have gained and the memories I have made at Scarsdale High School have prepared me for my future. Although I have had a great high school experience, I am beyond excited for the next chapter of my life."

McKay is originally from California and moved to Scarsdale from San Diego in her sophomore year

"I have always planned on returning to my home state," McKay said.  "Cal Poly’s learning process is very unique and extremely hands on, which is why I was so attracted to the school. 

Volunteering at the Weinberg Nature Center allowed McKay to spend her senior year outside for a majority of the day. McKay said it also allowed her to work with animals.

McKay said she will the comfort of her friends and the familiarity of being with teachers and students she recognizes everyday. 

"My favorite memories are track practices, classes with my friends, and now the Weinberg Nature Center," McKay said.
