SCARSDALE, N.Y. The Hoff-Barthelson Music School in Scarsdale holds an open house for parents interested in enrolling their children in a preschool music program.
The open house will afford parents of children up to 5 years old the opportunity to meet the Hoff-Barthelson staff, as well as other families that have graduated children from the programs. The doors will be open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sept. 6 at the school grounds.
The classes at Hoff-Barthelson are designed to introduce youngsters to basic elements of music, with the goal of preparing them for more formal study as they get older. There are programs for all ages, including parent-child classes for infants and Exploring Instrument classes for preschoolers.
Students at the school utilize music to bolster concentration, improve listening skills and learn to interact with their peers.
There are several available slots in the Hoff-Barthelson Preschool Center for 3 and 4-year-olds. Experienced teachers help aid the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of students as they get ready for kindergarten. The curriculum emphasizes music and art, and includes language arts, science, cooking and various types of play. The children attend music and movement classes twice a week in Dalcroze Eurhythmics.
