Dresses of all different colors, lengths and styles fluttered in the wind as girls and their tuxedo clad prom dates embraced each other and onlookers with excitement at Scarsdale High School 's pre-prom gathering.
"Getting dressed was stressful -- more for the moms than the students," said Idil Baysal, who was donning a long blue gown. "I am excited. Prom happens once."
Lori Samuelson, a mother of a high school prom-goer was thrilled with what she saw at the pre-prom party.
"One dress is more gorgeous than the next," she said. "It is remarkable to see kids my daughter went to kindergarten with all grown up. It is bitter-sweet."
