While students and parents have been enjoying sunshine and vacations this summer, the district’s custodial staff, facilities personnel, transportation staff and teachers have been busy getting Scarsdale’s seven schools ready for the first day on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Since students last roamed the halls of Scarsdale schools, floors have been stripped and polished, parking lots and roadways have been re-paved and a new bus depot has been installed for the district’s transportation fleet. Come the first day of school, the high school entrance will feature new imprinted sidewalks.

This week, with summer inching toward its conclusion, teachers have returned to their classrooms to begin decorating and organizing them. They will return next week for staff preparation and orientation before the grand re-opening in two weeks. The first Board of Education meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12.
