Scarsdale's Science Olympiad Team Excels In Rochester

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- The Science Olympiad team from the Scarsdale Middle School had a strong showing at an event held in Rochester recently, placing 17th out of 37 teams.

The following Scarsdale students were awarded medals for their performance:

  • Shock Value (first) -- Joe Weintraub and Richard Xu
  • Simple Machines (first) -- Richard Xu and Ryan Jacobowitz
  • Rotor Egg Drop (5th) -- Ryan Jacobowitz and Sneha Dey

Several Scarsdale olympians placed in the top 10 of their events:

  • Can't Judge a Powder (seventh) -- Dan Goldstein and Wolf Cukier
  • Metric Mastery (eighth) -- Arjun Ravi and Derek Chi
  • Road Scholar (ninth) -- Arjun Ravi and Shamika Dhuri
  • Experimental Design (10th) -- Ken Tomita, Sara Hezi and Derek Chi
