In total, six students from the High School Orchestra and Band were selected to the all-State ensembles, based on the results of the NYSSMA solo festival that took place in the spring of last year. In order to be considered for selection to the prestigious squad, students must score a perfect 100 on the most difficult level of music.

Juniors Laura Clapp (playing violin) Nivedita Ravi (violin) and seniors Rachel Haber (viola), Cameron Wong (cello), Amy Bi (flute) and Garrett Tanzer (string bass) were chosen under the guise of music teachers Amedee Williams and Jason Noble. They were chosen from thousands of sophomores and juniors who auditioned last year.

The 2015 NYSSMA Winter Conference will be held from Thursday, Dec. 3 through Sunday, Dec. 6 at the Rochester Convention Center.
