HARRISON, N.Y. -- Harrison High School's Art Troilo has announced his retirement as head varsity football coach, and the school board expects to announce his successor on Monday, July 7, the school announced.

Troilo took over as head coach in 1986, and has carried on and built upon the extraordinary legacy of Harrison High School football. Despite following in the footsteps of two legendary coaches, Ralph Friedgen, and his father, Art Troilo Sr., Troilo set a new standard for achievement over his tenure.

His 14 league championships, eight sectional championships, five regional championships, and two state championships make Troilo as one of the most successful coaches is Section 1 athletics. He has built one of the most respected football programs in the state.

“We have had great success with the Harrison football program before my time and during my tenure and I’m sure we’ll have great success moving forward,” Troilo said.

The 2013 team was once again recognized as a scholar-athlete team.

"He was a coach profoundly devoted to his athletes and this program, said Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Louis Wool. "He inherited a great program from revered predecessors and mentors, but he brought Harrison Husky football to its greatest successes."
