Scarsdale's JCC Mid-Westchester Features Maccabi Games Tryouts, SAT Prep

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – The JCC Mid-Westchester in Scarsdale will host a number of events in the upcoming weeks, including tryouts for the 2016 JCC Maccabi Games and ACT and SAT prep classes.

Tryouts for the 2016 JCC Maccabi Games will be held Jan. 20-Feb. 24 at JCC Mid-Westchester.

Tryout schedule for the 2016 JCC Maccabi Games:

Basketball

Boys 13-14: Wednesday, Jan. 20.

Boys 15-16: Monday, Feb. 22, and Wednesday, Feb. 24.

Girls 13-16: Thursday, Jan. 28.

Soccer

Boys 13-14: Wednesday, Jan. 27.

Boys 15-16: Wednesday, Jan. 27.

Girls 13-16: Thursday, Jan. 28.

Baseball

Boys ages 13-16: Wednesday, Feb. 3.

Girls soccer tryouts will take place from 8-8:45 p.m., and girls basketball tryouts will take place from 8:30-9:15 p.m. All other tryouts will take place from 8-9:15 p.m. at the JCC of Mid-Westchester, 999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale.

The JCC Maccabi Games will be held July 31- Aug. 5 in St. Louis and Aug. 7-12 in Stamford, Conn.

An ACT Prep class will be held Sunday 17 from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. An SAT Prep class will be held Sunday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

“Getting it Together Without Falling Apart: Effective Study and Organizational Skills” for sixth and seventh grades will be held Thursdays from Jan. 21 to Feb. 11 from 7-8:15 p.m. and for eighth and ninth grades Thursdays from Feb. 25 to March 17 from 7-8:15 p.m.

A Red Cross Babysitter Certification Class will be held Thursday, Feb. 18, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

A Biology SAT Subject Test Prep will take place Sundays from Feb. 28 to May 22 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

A speed reading class will take place on two Sundays, Feb. 28 and March 6, from 1-5 p.m.

Interfaith family workshops with Marion Usher, in collaboration with the JCC Nursery School Sunday, will take place Sunday, Jan. 24, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for parents and 3:30-5 p.m. for grandparents. Parents and grandparents will discuss concerns and challenges in raising Jewish children. Refreshments will be served. Pre-registration is strongly recommended.
