Did they send the boy out to rob the 7 Eleven? View Comment
I think you're right unfortunately, he will suffer for trying to do good.
I'm wondering why she only got breach of peace. Where's the disorderly conduct and assault charges? View Comment
Right ! I hope the video helps but who's going to fill in the blanks of what preceded this.
He'll probably get some sensitivity training and get to work the box line.
She wouldn't try this with a Postal truck. View Comment
2 years ago I had to replace mine basically because the guy who does my route likes to slam-dunk them onto pavement in the winter, waiting for them to splinter. I went to the recycling plant and the offer was 1 for $15 or 2 for $25.
Dawn, they are giving you a new bin for free, why would they want to buy back your used bin? You've still only put out $5 and you have a brand new bin and the old one is yours to keep if you choose to. View Comment
Happy Spring Paige !
I'm all for positive change and progress. Yes it sure must be a gain getting the deposit bottles. There is an old guy that comes by here the night before in an old station wagon and he uses a flashlight to rifle through my bin, all of which makes me wonder how he can make a profit but he's been coming for years. Between gas and batteries I always wondered where his break point was, if any. I have a hunch he'll be going out of business shortly.
I have a friend that lives in a town up Rte.#8. Theirs broke and it was $73 for a new one. The sunlight eventually makes the plastic brittle. I have two of the small blue bins right now. I wonder if I have two at the curb if they will give me two of the new ones. Thanks for the info, kind lady.
Yes,.. it's time for a Speedy run! Enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend.

I've never had to sort anything,... glass, plastic and metal containers and an occasional cardboard pizza box all in one bin at the curb once a week. Then the pickers come and take all the deposit bottles. Seems the pickers will be sol and I'll be rolling out the behemoth once a month, maybe two months. When Carting beaks the new bins I have a feeling my buying a new one will set me back about $75. View Comment

The Sun roared out a huge solar flare yesterday. NASA caught it on film, ranking the spectacular blast as a Class-M flare, just one spot below the the most disruptive type of flare, X. Even so, NASA says it will give Earth a mere "glancing blow," and the National Weather Service expects it will cause only minor disruptions to satellites and power grids.
It could have been much worse. For centuries, solar flares have been responsible for a multitude of earth-bound calamities, from blackouts to disrupted communications to strange lights in the sky. In 1859, the biggest flare on record hit, creating auroras worldwide and interrupting telegraph service for weeks. Considering today's connected world—and our reliance on satellites—a major solar storm could be disastrous.

My outgoing mail used to be sorted at the Belden Station. Then they decided to send all mail to Stamford to be sorted. So, my check to the dentist on East Ave that could be delivered to her office the next day, then took three days, after a short junket. Certainly not cost effective. I hope it goes back to being sorted in town View Comment
