Great idea! But they arent very interested because even though its common sense its not a popular thought. God forbid our legislature push something because it actually makes sense. Keep trying though, I will. Pot being illegal saddles this state with many millions of dollars in burden from incarcerating, enforcement, trials, programs etc. Swap all that expenditure for a new revenue stream. Easy peasy if you just do whats obvious. View Comment
Thats cool, but in the same 6 months at least 250,000 citizens used a gun to prevent a crime, thats a conservative govt statistic, others would have it over a million. So, while it is true that people do stupid tragic things with guns, as we do with everything, its also true that we use guns much much more frequently for good, safe, legal things, just like we do with most things.
In fact, a casual look at our history should make it evident that gun control more likely caused Sandy hook than anything else.
Somebody who can compile that list of trivia is certainly capable of realizing that from 1790 to 1990 school shooting were very very very rare. All throught that time frame guns were permitted in schools & more often than not shooting was part of the voluntary curriculum. In other words they had school rifle instruction. Yet as I said, mass school shootings were unheard of.
Then in 1990 the nation passed a gun free school law, but at least the federal law exempted people with permits to carry. It basically barred people who already shouldnt be carrying from carrying in a school. Almost immediately we see an upswing in school shootings. Not to be outdont CT passed its own more restrictive law in 92 barring ANYONE (except police of course) from posessing a gun on school grounds, even if you had a background check & permit. Kinda funny in retrospect, the same idiots who are calling for universal background checks dont think that they mean much since EVERY permit holder in CT has already had one.
Anyway, with the passage of that single bill into law, our legislature guaranteed that when the law of averages pulled our number and sent a murderous evil person to one of our schools, that person could proceed with the knowledge he was safe, that law guarantees that every single time somebody wants to wreak havoc on a school he will succeed, even now, today 6 months later a madman can walk into any school in ct and do what Adam lanza did. Not because of inaction today, but because of 11 year old legislation.
But hey lets just ignore that and move on says the CT legislature & its liberal supporters. View Comment
Personally I cant believe its still illegal. The way CT loves to tax people its amazing they dont see the potential here. And if pots a gateway drug then so are beer and cigarettes. View Comment
Of course he is against this sort of thing. He doesnt comprehend that we have far too many people on the public dole and progress is lowering that number, not increasing it or keeping it stable. Plus he needs people like that in his voting blok.
As far as Murphy's stunt, it was cute, he should quit politics & start a reality show. Hopefully he's a better host than Congressperson because he sure stinks in that regards.

I tend to agree. My biggest issue HERE is the use of different names to single out and attack people of differing opinions. I can sure be wrong but I view Pony Tail Steve as one such victim. Iv never seen him/her spam or do anything out of line until provoked by numerous invented people.
That said I do believe politicians need a thick skin. A politician will be voting according to his or her OPINION and those votes WILL effect as all. Many politicians which to treat us as small children and dont like facing the music for their votes. Matter of fact ANYBODY with a strong opinion willing to stand up & make that opinion heard should be ready for backlash. I know I am. At any rate its obvious due to our current state of affairs that while some may think recent politicians are qualified, the reality is that we are far worse off than a couple short decades ago, the working class taxpayer anyway. Our recent leadership, both local, state & federal, is so focused on helping people they ignore who they are hurting. Putting people in the poorhouse by taxing them to death is not good for anyone.
If politicians dont want to be ridiculed they should start careing more about the people who truly make things happen, the taxpayer. View Comment
Good to an extent. But we shouldnt need to beg for it at all. If Duff & his cronies had our best interest at heart they would be pushing for LOCAL control of school funding. We give this state much more than we get back. View Comment
Well, Malloy could sure use improvement in WORTHWHILE skills, professionalism & ethics. But all the same I'd love to see him get arrested for signing the new gun bill. lol, useless is a generous description of the man. View Comment
Better get used to it. Dont know where people think the DEEP can relocate a bear in CT that it wont bump into people anymore. I'd guess the people in Weston & other heavilly wooded towns should just learn to live with them, they sure arent going away.

This jerk is exactly why we are where we are. Nothing better to do than push for gun control & tell us how to live while ignoring the things killing the country. Typical liberal wanker.

Get over it Paige, nobody can blame things on Bush at this point. If the idiot in the Whitehouse hasn't made a positive difference yet he won't. But that's irrelevant anyway, CTs problem is caused by decades of unchecked liberalism, to deny that is to deny reality, another thing liberals are good at. View Comment
Of course thats what he said, its politics & it looks like he's doing something.
It has to cost money, unless that contractor is going to administer everything, print his own tickets & pay court costs etc out of a cut of the ticket money. I'd also question it providing significant improvement in saftey. I dont recall hearing about many, or any, children getting run over lately. Sounds like the city is being sold a bill of goods with the hopes of making a few bucks. We dont have to jump up like little children & get everything pushed in front of us. We can use intelligent responsible spending practices to reduce the cost of running the city instead of constantly looking for new ways to get money. View Comment
So you think these cameras will make kids move faster? lol. There are infractions because people are impatient. I dislike the idea that we are filmed everywhere we go and think this is a bad idea. I suppose a small still camera set up to take a picture when something passes while the bus flashers on would do the same thing at a fraction of the cost without recording everything the bus passes.
Plus I'm not sure we should give private companies a cut of state fines. If thats ok why on earth do we pay police to direct traffic when a $15/hr renta cop can do just as well? If we want to save money thats a better place to start. View Comment
Sure spend more of our money so we can collect more for Hartford, it's not like we don't have any to spare as high as the taxes are here. I'd support this as long as the money is taken from a wasteful program instead of the general fund. Take it from the money we intend to spend xpanding Washington Village.

Who cares about the boat?
We dont need more cops, we need less scumbags & the best way to do that is stop building places for them to live. Norwalk likes these guys, it allows the city to beg for grants. The real answer is reducing public housing instead of building more. Level the projects & these guys will go away. View Comment
